Portmore Empire recording artiste, Shawn Campbell, more popularly known as
Shawn Storm is once again a free man following a four day stint behind
bars.
The “My Life” singjay turned himself into the cops on Monday after
being named a person of interest by Portmore police. Though some
speculated that Shawn Storm’s arrest was directly linked to the murder
case against his long-time mentor, Vybz Kartel, no reasoning was offered
by the police regarding the nature of his arrest. He was transferred from
St. Catherine to the Constant Spring Police station earlier in the
week.
Shawn Storm was freed after his lawyer, Michael Deans, filed a habeas
corpus application in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on
Friday morning. According to Deans, he was on his way to court to
address the matter when a senior superintendent informed him that the
St. Andrew North did not have any interest in Shawn Storm. As a result,
he was reportedly processed and released Friday afternoon. The Gaza
singjay has yet to comment on the matter.
Shawn Storm’s arrest came a week after Vybz Kartel was charged with
murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in
connection with the shooting death of Barrington “Bossie” Burton, a
businessman/promoter of a St. Catherine address. Kartel is expected to
return to court October 26th to answer those charges prior to a November
10th appearance to answer ganja possession charges.
