Ousted Portmore Empire artiste, Felicia Gordon, more popularly known
as Lisa Hyper claims that she harbours no ill will towards Vybz Kartel despite
their severance of ties.
Hyper was kicked out of the “Gaza” group by Vybz Kartel in December
2009, following a sex scandal that made her the subject of
controversy within the Dancehall fraternity. Since then, she
has making a relentless attempt to rebuild her career and is slated to
release her debut album in the near future. Despite their differences,
Lisa Hyper insisted that she still has love for her former mentor.
"Everybody have dem bad side and yuh just have to know how to navigate around that,” Lisa Hyper said in a statement.
The “Put Yuh Money Weh Yuh Mouth Deh” deejay intimated that she learned a lot from Vybz
Kartel whilst under his tutelage; pointing to his positive traits unlike fellow ex-Empire deejay, Deva Bratt.
"Sometimes mi deejay and write songs, mi hear him inna me, just in the
way mi write and at those times, I realize I learnt a lot from him, he
is a good mentor, he has a lot of bad ways, you just have to adapt the
good principle and make use of that, ah de so Deva Bratt go wrong. Deva
Bratt will attest to that, he always has something to talk to us about,
and we will learn something at the end of the day. Mi nah go judge him
by how him stay, nobody no know wah him go through before him reach
where him reach that mek him into the person he is today but if him stay
any way, it must be a reason,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lisa Hyper expressed her thoughts regarding the recent
murder charges levied against Kartel. Though the
charges are serious, Lisa urged the masses not to pass judgement on “Di
Teacha,” suggesting that Kartel’s loved ones are saddened by his current
predicament.
"Mi know him mother, baby mother, his children and it bad. Mi nuh
have nothing bad fi say about him, all I know is that him have a lot of
people who love him. Even if him did those stuff, him have a lot of
people who love him, he is selfish to do that, he is a breadwinner,
concerned for mother, father and kids dem. He will always be Lisa
Hyper's heart, him grow mi musically, me know him from me a five, him
used to call me Shabba and him name Addi Banton,” she added.
Lisa Hyper maintained that she wouldn’t jump to conclusions regarding
Kartel and his personal life, despite the allegations against him.
"Lisa Hyper still love Vybz Kartel and I am in no position to judge him or his lifestyle, or vice versa,” she said.
