Vybz Kartel Pleads Not Guilty & Speaks For The First Time

Controversial Dancehall superstar, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer since being incarcerated has spoken publicly for the first time.

Earlier Friday morning, Kartel made his feelings known publicly regarding his legal woes via an audio tape. In the tape, Kartel directed his comments to the police stating; “Dem seh wi a fugitive, system a pre di Gaza general.” adding to the statement, the self-proclaimed “Worl’ Boss” sang a few lyrics expressing his thoughts on the arrest. “Di system a pre mi, dem a seh mi is a don nuh call mi so, true mi help ghetto youths weh no have enough. Why you do dat Missa Officer? why you come inna mi house a search so fa? Wha you waan lock up Shorty fa?  You neva si mi wid no gun inno officer,” He sang.

Meanwhile, sources close to Kartel’s camp said the deejay plans to release a single, in the near future, talking about the accusations made against him and why he feels singled out by law enforcement. “Di Teacha know seh him innocent and nuff people a speculate whether him kill man or have illegal gun,” the source intimated before adding, “But wi a work pon a new track addressing all the speculations.”

On Friday afternoon, Kartel pleaded not guilty to the charge of ganja possession in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. The artiste’s preliminary hearing, where he will answer to the aforementioned along with murder charges, has been tentatively set for October 13th.

Following his arrest a week ago at a hotel in New Kingston and slapped with the charge of marijuana possession. The following day, Kartel was taken to a series of premises the police believes he owns or frequents before being held in custody at a Kingston based jail last weekend. Reportedly, a badly burnt body was allegedly found in one of Kartel’s residence at Havendale, St. Andrew weeks prior. On Monday, “Di Teacha” was charged for murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting death of a St. Catherine based businessman/promoter.

  1. Sad to see one of jamaica's most talented artiste it situations like this, hopefully the truth comes out and entertainment can reach a point where it benefits the youth for tomorrow.
