International recording
superstar Mr. Vegas arrived in Zimbabwe earlier this week, marking his third
such trip to the African continent in the last couple of years.
"I am proud that this happened because this is the first time that a
dancehall artiste is doing it and it is also a first for me as an
artiste. The response to the video has been phenomenal so far, people
love the acting, and the comedic elements to the concepts of how males
are acting different nowadays and adopting female characteristics in
terms of their fashion choices. The actor Orville Hall did a good job
bringing across the concept, and Terminal 4 Media did a great job
directing it," he said.
"I
always love performing in Africa, the last time I performed in Kenya,
there were between 70,000 to 80,000 people in the stadium. I have also
performed in Uganda in the past...Africa ah my place," he said.
He will be the headline act for a huge concert in the capital city of Zimbabwe this weekend.
In
the meantime, the singjay's Certain Law video debuted at #1 on MTV Base
Africa chart this week. Millions of viewers watch the MTV station in
countries like Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The thought-provoking single "Certain Law" on the recently
released Barbwire Riddim has been getting a lot of airplay and spins at
the street dances all over Jamaica.
Mr.
Vegas completed a successful Euroepan tour earlier this year where he
performed in countries such as Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Poland,
Finland, Spain and Switzerland. He was also the main headline act at the Arthur's Day Live concert held on the GNS Grounds in Georgetown, Guyana in September.
