Vybz Kartel Remanded Again, Trial Date Set For May 8

Embattled Dancehall entertainer and Gaza boss, Adidja Palmer, more popularly known as Vybz Kartel will spend a few more months behind bars before once again knowing his legal fate.

The Portmore Empire deejay, who has been incarcerated since last September, was denied bail on Wednesday afternoon in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrates Court regarding obstruction of justice related charges pertaining to one of his murder cases.

Kartel stand accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and perverting the course of justice in the Clive “Lizard” Williams murder case. His Empire protégé, Vanessa Saddler aka Gaza Slim and studio engineer, Andre Henry aka Pim Pim also are accused of the aforementioned charges and will return, alongside Kartel, to court on May 8.

It’s alleged that on October 29, five days after Vybz Kartel was charged for murder in the Clive “Lizard” Williams case, Gaza Slim filed a police report to the Constant Spring police, claiming that Williams robbed and gun-butted her during an incident in Havendale, St. Andrew. However, the prosecution claims they have evidence to dispute that the claim was real; intimating that a cellular phone was seized, containing a text message where Kartel allegedly ordered Gaza Slim to concoct the robbery story.

Gaza Slim and Pim-Pim have since been granted bail in the matter.
Kartel also stands accused of killing Barrington “Bossie” Burton, a St. Catherine based promoter, last July. Additionally, Kartel faces a February 13 court date regarding a ganja possession charge stemming from his initial arrest at a New Kingston hotel on September 29.
