Reggae superstar Jah Cure has apologised to the thousands of reggae fans who were disappointed when he failed to turn up at a show at the Victoria Park venue in St. Vincent over the weekend. The artiste is contending that he was not paid a deposit and that the promoter violated his contractual obligations so it was impossible to perform.
The 'Behind These Prison Walls' singer had been slated to headline a show dubbed “Irresistible Temptations” which also featured Trinidadian artiste Orlando Octave.
The event was organised by Matrix Music Group in collaboration with Carib Beer and Hot FM, but major questions are being asked because on Saturday night, thousands of irate Jah Cure fans left the venue disappointed after shelling out as much as EC$60 per ticket, and some media houses reported that bottles were thrown and shots fired.
In the aftermath of that incident, Jah Cure tweeted: “St. Vincent I’m sorry for every thing that happened tonight due to the lack of organization on the part of the promoters who have been giving nothing but excuses! I look forward to returning to deliver great music in a show by a legitimate promoter some time soon. Jah live!”
And later, he tweeted again: “Promoter failed to meet his contractual obligations so I could not perform. Sorry St. Vincent, I shall return, I’m super disappointed.”
The show would have been his first performance in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since 2008.
