Sizzla To Give First Live Performance Since Crash

Internationally acclaimed Reggae superstar, Sizzla will take his biggest step career wise since he endured a horrific motorcycle crash last year.

The artiste, whose real name is Miguel Orlando Collins, will return to the local stage for the first time in over a year when he’ll participate in an upcoming live show dubbed, Sizzla: Unplugged and Acoustics. Branded the ‘event of the century,’ Sizzla has joined forces with Florida-based public relations outlet, Whirlwind Entertainment Group to showcase a historic event, scheduled to take place at Club Privelege  in New Kingston on March 18, starting at 8 p.m.

Keecha Hamilton, production manager for the event intimated via press release that Sizzla: Unplugged and Acoustics will meets fan demands for more unplugged performances while they get the chance to witness the triumphant return of  Sizzla Kalonji in a calm atmosphere to ease him back into the fold. Additionally, proceeds from the event will go towards providing medical support for a child in desperate need of life-saving surgery.

The prominent singjay will team up with iconic Dancehall/Reggae producers, Sly and Robbie as well as acclaimed violinist, Jessica Yap.  Furthermore, breakthrough Dancehall artiste, Popcaan will host and perform at the after party.

Patrons will pay JA$2,000 pre-sold, JA$2,500 at the gate and can only access VIP tickets via invitation.

Sizzla suffered several broken bones and a ruptured liver following a bike crash in St. Ann last August. After spending a day at the St. Ann’s Bay hospital, Sizzla was transferred to a Kingston-based hospital, where he spent 11 days in treatment before being released.

After a few months recuperating at home, Sizzla Kalonji has slowly regained his energy for music as he’s released singles such as Foolishness on the Master’s Blend Riddim, Jah Jah Blessings, Mama Mek Mi Deh Yah So and Right Now since the start of 2012. Additionally, Sizzla released his 67th studio album, The Chant last month,featuring 13 tracks that showcase African culture and several classic roots Reggae singles.
