Bounty Killer, Sizzla & Wee Pow Honoured

Three dancehall stalwarts were recognised by Chiney K Productions for their contribution to the genre at the popular Weddy Weddy dance, last week.
They are Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell, founder of the Stone Love sound system who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Bounty Killer — the Iconic Award; and Sizzla, who got the Cultural Ambassador Award.

A representative accepted Bounty Killer’s award. The awards were initially scheduled to be handed out at the Taurus Bash show in Junction, St Elizabeth, three weeks ago.

However, the event was marred by power outages, no-show of artistes, and a bout of bottle-throwing. Promoter Paul Lowe-Chin of Chiney K Productions addressed the show’s shortcomings.

“I really don’t know what happened as this year we had a great line-up and we were expecting one of the biggest stagings yet. We did a lot of promotions and the admission fees were affordable but compared to previous years this has been our worst,” he said.

Lowe-Chin has been involved with the show since its inception in 2005 when it was known as Bounty Killer and Friends.
