Veteran Dancehall artiste, Sheldon Smith, more popularly known as Deva Bratt has been granted bail in his ongoing assault case.
The former Portmore Empire and current Krucial Konflict deejay was granted J$150,000 bail on a pair of assault charges following an appearance in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Bail was granted in the matter after Deva Bratt’s lawyer insisted that his client was by no means a flight risk.
As a result, Deva Bratt was issued an August 14
court date when he will return to answer to charges of indecent assault
and assault occasioning bodily harm.
The charges stem from an alleged incident in which Deva Bratt made sexual advances towards two women at his Portmore home but was rejected. Reports indicated that after that exchange, Deva Bratt punched one of the women repeatedly, leaving her with several bruises.
The other woman alleged that the Get Crunk singer tried to put his hands in her pants.
The incident was reported to the Bridgeport Police and following an investigation, Deva Bratt was taken into custody and later charged by the St. Catherine Police on Friday.
