Jamaica Doing Well In Miss World 2012 Competition

Hot on the heels of the success of the Jamaican athletes in London, another Jamaican is seeking to make her mark on the world stage.

Miss Jamaica World Deanna Robins is currently putting her best foot forward at the Miss World pageant underway in Ordos, inner Mongolia. Robins has made it into four of the fast-track mini competitions which are now a feature of the Miss World pageant.

Just yesterday, word came that she made it into top 10 of the Top Model competition, where she will face-off with the beauties representing Australia, Spain, Mexico, Chile, and China.

The 21-year-old Jamaica is also in the top five of the Talent segment. She danced her way into this fast-track competition with a piece choreographed to Bob Marley’s Redemption Song. Her competition will come from the contestants from Panama, China, Norway, and the Phillipines.

She has also made the finals of the Sports and Beach Beauty fasttrack competitions. The winners of these competitions are automatic semi-finalists.

Miss World 2012 will be chosen this Saturday, August 18.

Jamaica has won the Miss World title on three occasions: 1963 — Carole Joan Crawford, 1976 — Cindy Breakspeare, and Lisa Hanna in 1993.
