Accused pornographic website mastermind Ronald Oates was on Tuesday offered bail in the sum of J$500,000 bail when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court.
Following the September 5th bail application made by his lawyer Zara Lewis. Oates, was initially remanded for an additional two weeks to allow the investigators time to complete their probe.
Oates 27, was ordered to return to court on October 16th where he is expected to answer to charges of unauthorized access, unauthorized obstruction, unlawfully making available data for the commission of an offence and obscene publication under the Cyber crime Act. Others charges include extortion and conspiracy to extort under the Larceny Act.
The accused alleged operated a website called 'Jamaicangirlsexposed', notorious for publishing unauthorized nude photographs of hundreds of Jamaican women.
He was arrested in August through the collaborative effort of the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) with aid from overseas police personnel during which several computers, cell phones, photographs and pornographic videos were confiscated.
