L.A Lewis Arrested For Trademark & Copyright Breach

Jamaican street enigma and graffiti artiste Howard Lewis more popularly known as L.A. Lewis and another man was on Wednesday arrested by the police at a warehouse in Downtown, Kingston.

Information gathered revealed that the self proclaimed seven-star general and his accomplice were taken into custody by officers from the Organised Crime and Investigation Division (OCID) after a counterfeit beverage operation was discovered. Based on intelligence gathered it's suspected that both men may be involved in the illegal operation.

The revelation was made following raids on premises at Metcalfe Street and Tower Hill in the Corporate area. Further investigation by the police revealed that drinks were being made in unsanitary conditions and possibly sold to unsuspecting members of the public. During the raids several pieces of equipment including pharmaceutical items were discovered at the locations.

The two have been slapped with charges of breaching the Trademark and Copyright infringement act. But was now out on station bail.

Last year, Lewis was fined J$70,000 by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) for allegedly defacing public space in seven places throughout the Corporate Area which is a breach of the Anti-Litter Act. However he was subsequently granted bail in the sum of J$50,000 when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
