Captain Barkey To Be Buried At Jamaica's Military Base

Funeral arrangements have been finalized for veteran Dancehall artiste, Wayne ‘Captain Barkey’ Hamilton as the deceased entertainer will buried in his native country.

A memorial service will be held to honor Captain Barkey’s life on November 8 at the Hagley Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kingston. The service will commence at 11:00am that day, followed by an interment at Up Park Camp in St. Andrew, the headquarters of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), where Captain Barkey served as a member for several years.

The venue for Captain Barkey’s service was changed after it was initially due to take place at the Portmore Missionary Church in Portmore, St. Catherine next Thursday.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Captain Barkey’s body would be flown back to Jamaica from New York, where the prominent entertainer was shot and killed following an incident outside a local motel. Barkey and his female companion, Tracy Bennett were shot and killed by Bennett’s estranged ex-boyfriend, Joseph Kernizan on October 13.

Captain Barkey was reportedly threatened by Kernizan mere weeks before his death and had been warned to end his relationship with Bennett given Kernizan’s volatile behavior and his apparent attachment to Bennett, who he shared two children with.

Two days after Barkey’s shooting, Kernizan fled to Florida where he committed suicide after law enforcement officials surrounded an apartment he was staying at as they tried to apprehend him.
