Bounty Killer Freed Of Gun Charges After 3 Years

Leader of the Alliance and iconic deejay Rodney Pryce more popularly known as 'Bounty Killer' is today breathing a sigh of relief after he was freed of gun charges in the Gun Court on Monday afternoon.

The dismissal comes three years later following the testimony of the policeman and the contradictions of the statement in his possession which led to Bounty Killer and co-accused Calis Bowen being freed by Justice Martin Gayle.

The two were charged in 2009, with illegal possession of a firearm, assault and unlawful wounding, following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP).

Investigators had reported, that on September 27, 2007, the Constable was driving his vehicle in the business district of  New Kingston when he drove up to a group of men, including Bounti Killa, who had used their vehicles to block sections of St Lucia Avenue.

The policeman signalled the men to move, however one of them threw alcohol in his face and this l ed to a confrontation. It's reported, that during the confrontation, Bounty allegedly pulled a firearm and pointed it at the policeman.

Bowen, who was in the entourage, is accused of hitting the Constable, although he had identified himself as a policeman. He has since been dismissed from the police force.

Following the decision, Bounty Killer, who was facing prison time if convicted, said he was elated.
