One of Jamaica's biggest internet sensation is now behind bars as local law enforcement officials allege he 'canna cross it,' when it comes to paying child support.
Clifford 'Cliff-Twang' Brown, the social worker known for his catch phrase, 'Nobody Canna Cross It,' has been jailed after a recent court appearance for the lack of child maintenance, according to reports.
Brown has reportedly been in and out of the Family Court the last few months and was taken into custody in December as he allegedly remains behind on child support payments. He was then offered JA$80,000 bail, but refused. Brown will return to the Kingston-based Family Court on Thursday.
Cliff-Twang has been accused of lack of child maintenance by his baby's mother since 2011, when the Mavis Bank Police in St. Thomas served him a summons. That August, Brown was hauled before the courts to answer the allegations.
At the time of his arrest, Brown denied the allegations, insisting he had evidence showing he paid child support on a regular basis.
Two years ago, Brown gained universal popularity when a remixed video, produced by Kevin-Sean 'DJ Powa' Hamilton went viral of his strong 'twanging' when being interviewed by TVJ's Prime Time News team about flooding affecting the Mavis Bank Bridge.
That interview, where his Nobody Canna Cross It was coined, garnered millions of hits on YouTube and was even featured on CNN.
Later that year, Brown turned his moment of fame into a short-lived deejaying stint, as he recorded two songs, Wat If Mi Frass and Education Is The Key. He also scored an endorsement deal with telecommunications powerhouse, LIME.
However, last July, in an interview with TVJ, Cliff-Twang revealed he was struggling financially and signaled his intention to do more gospel music given his devout Christianity.
