The year 2012 will go down as the best year professionally for female dancehall artiste Tifa. The singjay who won countless awards, racked up successive hits, and delivered great performances, maintained a musical high throughout the past year.
In a release to the media, Tifa spoke about the highlights and the negative moments she experienced in 2012.
‘2012 was a bitter sweet year for me. Many persons tried to tarnish my career and reputation with publicity stunts and lies. But through the grace of God, I managed to pull through and still make a notable impact at home and abroad’, Tifa explained.
Among the musical highlights for Tifa were songs including Destiny featuring dancehall’s hot male act Konshens; Show Me the Bubble; Wife Me Up; Niceness; the chart topping Hold On; and Why Yuh Mad featuring Spice.
'Why Yuh Mad' accompanied by a high tech glossy and in-your-face video, raced to the top of the video charts and danced its way up singles charts in Jamaica, New York, the UK, and Africa. 'Hold On' proved to be her most successful single in 2012. Produced by Washroom Entertainment and featured on the Poolside rhythm, the track hit number one locally and spent seven weeks at #1 on MTV Base Africa Dancehall chart.
A slew of performances, kept Tifa busy for the most part the show circuit.
Tifa, a brand ambassador for telecommunications company Digicel, was also featured prominently in an advertising campaign for the Wysinco distributed Bigga product in late 2012.
Asked if there was anything that she would have done differently over the past year, Tifa said ‘Looking back I would have addressed certain persons and issues sooner. I am not one to pay attention to rumours but some got out of control and I felt I should have nipped them in the bud much sooner’.
Tifa is quite optimistic about 2013. ‘Hopefully 2013 will be the year that I break into the international market and represent for Jamaica on a larger scale. Tifa, Jamaica and reggae music to the world’, she concluded.
