Anju Blaxx Lottery Scamming Trial Rescheduled

Jamaican Dancehall producer Anju Blaxx had his case rescheduled to July when he appeared in the North Dakota District Court in Bismarck on lottery scamming charges, recently.

Blaxxx is facing conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering charges. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. He has, however, declared his innocence. Lottery scamming involves duping victims to send millions of dollars for 'lottery winnings'.

"His new trial date is now July 13," said a court worker who requested anonymity.

According to court records, 10 cases are to be tried on that day.

"With that volume, chances are that his case may be postponed again, as the judge can't do two trials in one day," the court worker told the media

Blaxxxwhose given name is Andrew Myrie was arrested in Florida in May 2014.

One of dancehall's leading producers, Blaxxx is the CEO of UIM Records. In March, his label released the Mildew riddim to coincide with his court appearance. The riddim boasts high-riding dancehall artistes, including Mavado, Popcaan and Alkaline.

"We have a slew of productions by Anju Blaxxx, Kadeem and Dinearo which will be released soon," said Tanya Thelwell, manager of UIM Records, in a statement accompanying the riddim's release.

Blaxxx rose to prominence in 2013 with Bugle's Nuh Compatible. Prior to Bugle, he made local charts with hits from the Purge, 300 Round, Sanction, Journey, Beach Bunx, Coolie Gal, Nymphomaniac, and Klappaz riddim.
