Jamaican Passport Fees To Increase, Says Government

Passport fees are to go up shortly but immigration officials are not saying by how much and exactly when the increase will take effect.

It's understood, however, that the application fee for adult passports is to be increased from $4,500 to $6,500 come Wednesday.

Contacted this afternoon, a senior representative of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency would not confirm the details.

"An announcement will be made in due time," the representative said.

During the Budget Debate in March, the Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips, had indicated that Government agencies and departments would be adjusting their prices.

Passport fees were last increased in 2009 by amounts ranging from 80 per cent to 380 per cent.

CURRENT PASSPORT FEES

Adult passport - $4,500

Children's passport - $2,700

Replacement of a lost or stolen adult passport - $9,500

Replacement of a lost or stolen child passport - $5,700
