Members of the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) and the Contraband Enforcement Team (CET) seized more than $7 million in cocaine at the Norman Manley International Airport on Tuesday. A man was arrested and charged in connection with the find.
Reports are that about 11:35 a.m., 53-year-old businessman Nehemiah Douglas of Ewarton, St Catherine, arrived in the country from Trinidad.
During a security screening, 5.27kg of cocaine valued at $7.378 million was found strapped to his body. He was subsequently arrested and later charged for possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, importing and conspiracy to import cocaine.
Douglas is to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Tuesday, June 30
