The police say they are seeking popular artiste Potential Kidd for questioning in relation to the ongoing violence in the Trench Town area of western Kingston.
The western Kingston police, who have seen an upsurge of violence in the division in recent weeks, have since listed the dancehall artiste as a person of interest.
The artiste, born Dwayne Taylor, is of a Trench Town address, and was listed among 34 other persons following last week's shooting of four people in Coronation Market, which the police say is linked to a break-in at a wholesale owned by a popular Tivoli Gardens family.
On Monday, a man was killed and a woman injured behind the Kingston Public Hospital, and the police theorise these recent incidents of crime and violence are linked to an ongoing fight between gangs.
It's understood that at least four relatives of incarcerated crime boss Christopher 'Dudus' Coke have also been listed.
When our news team contacted head of the western Kingston police division, Senior Superintendent Cornwall 'Bigga' Ford, he confirmed that the entertainer was being sought by the police.
Ford told the media, "The information coming to the west Kingston police is that he is influencing the violence in Trench Town."
He further stated an illegal firearm that was purchased in the community had been confiscated by thugs and is believed to be the root of the problem. Ford said police intelligence operatives are checking the information received and the entertainer will be questioned in relation to this information.
The police requested those listed as persons of interest to turn themselves in to the police as of 8 a.m. yesterday. A few have reportedly complied, however, up to late yesterday afternoon, Potential Kidd had not turned himself in to the police.
Potential Kidd is known for songs like A Yah So Nice and Everything Govern.
