International dancehall artiste Sean Paul has remained silent on the controversy surrounding his wife Jodi Stewart-Henriques and comments she made about local sprint hero Usain Bolt.
Stewart-Henriques, popularly known as Jinx, triggered a firestorm last week after accusing Bolt of being a horrible neighbour and saying that she wished the track star would “go back to where he came from”.
The comments have led to Jinx being accused of “classism” and even “racism”. Her husband, Sean Paul, has unavoidably been dragged into the controversy and his name has been on the wrong end of misplaced anger from social media users – many describing him as a “washed up” deejay who hasn’t had a hit in a long time.
However, the entertainer – among the island’s most successful dancehall artistes of all time on the international stage – remains a fairly popular figure overseas. And he demonstrated that in a video he shared on social media on Monday, showing thousands of fans in Morocco rocking to his performance in that North African country over the weekend.
“TNX U ALL SO MUCH 4 HAVIN ME COME CELEBRATE LIFE WIT U MOROCCO!!! DAT SOME BOY FI KNO!!! WE ONLY GOT #1LIFE!!! RRR!!!” Sean Paul captioned the video.
