One of two men who allegedly robbed a shop in Guys Hill, St Catherine, was beaten to death by a mob this morning. He is yet to be identified by the police.
Reports are that about 7:00a.m., the two hoodlums robbed a shop of goods and money. They escaped in a waiting motor car. An alarm was made and residents began chasing the vehicle. Police said during the chase, the driver lost control of the car and it overturned.
A mob descended upon the men and started to beat and chop them. One managed to escape, while the other succumbed to injuries, the police said.
The Guys Hill police are now conducting a probe to ascertained who is responsible for the mob killing.
In recent months, the Guys Hill Police Station has been without a working service vehicle which has resulted in a rise in criminal activities in the area and surrounding communities.
