Dancehall Artiste Likkle Dainjah Arrested As Person Of Interest In Murder Case

Fast-rising dancehall artiste Likkle Dainjah is now being probed by the police as a person of interest in relation to murder.

Detectives attached to the Oraccabessa Police Station yesterday confirmed that the artiste was in their custody. He is to face an identification parade today.

According to reports, the artiste was arrested following his performance last Thursday at Reggae Sumfest Dancehall Night held at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.

Family member Ray Sutherland, who shared his indignation, said that the police have made a grave mistake in taking the entertainer into custody. Sutherland is further incensed as he claims that the police have remained largely tight-lipped about the matter.

"They (the police) said that it (the murder) happened two years ago, which is impossible. Now, he's doing an identification parade today. Since he has been in custody, it has been hush hush. It's just his fiancé and his sister that have been up and down so far," Sutherland said. "I am the one who is coping with it."

According to reports, the murder in which the police are investigating occurred in St Mary. Up to late yesterday, the artiste was yet to have any charges laid against him.

Likkle Dainjah hails from Dela Vega City, in Spanish Town, St Catherine. He attended Spanish Town Comprehensive High School (now Spanish Town High) where he graduated and has since forged a career in music.

He is known for songs such as Burning, Run Dem Dung, and Badmind.
