G Whizz Turns To Christianity & Set To Release New Album

Proudly carrying his firstborn, recording artiste G Whizz bounced unto the main stage at Sunday's Funfest; The Unique Family Festival. After singing a part of his opening song and acknowledging that it has been a long time since he has performed in Jamaica, he quickly added "mi ah do some rebranding. When mi sey rebranding is a serious thing. Mi recently make the decision to walk with Christ. We have been around the world and seen it all, and there is nothing out there in the world".

He later told the media about his walk with Christ and current projects.

"It happened over a period of time," he said. It could be said the journey started through his songs. Most of them are 'clean' and lately he has been weeding out those that are not. But the final straw was when the Almighty reached out to him in a special way - " a filling of the Holy Spirit" he eventually said.

It was with composure that G Whizz said, "I am now led by the Spirit and not the flesh," he added.

The popular vocalist, who was christened Garland Rowe, said he will not classify himself as a gospel artiste. However, he will definitely be singing some Kingdom music - praise and worship." His home place of worship is Church on the Rock.

There was also some excitement in G Whizz's voice when he began talking about his newest projects, which are working on his upcoming album and a stint with Stephen Marley.

G Whizz, who according to his online biography, said his "greatest inspiration is Bob Marley", spent three weeks in Miami working on three songs with Stephen. At the outset it should have been one song, but so impressed was Marley with the first track that "he gave me two other rhythms", G Whizz said. He plans to include the songs on his upcoming album.

In spite of having popular songs such as Life, Music and It's Gonna Be Alright G Whizz, who spent his early days in Linstead, St Catherine, has not released an album worldwide. He has, however, done one that was released in Japan. G Whizz is about to change all of that with an album that he has been working on. It promises to be one with "nice, clean music", he said, done in reggae and featuring vocalists such as Ikaya. One challenge to its completion is that there are so many songs to sift through.

Additionally, the young and proud father has been doing shows overseas. G Whizz has deliberately not done shows in Jamaica, as he continues to work on rebranding himself.
