Earlier this week when a photo surfaced of a handcuffed Vybz Kartel inside a doctor's office, it created quite a frenzy on social media, stirring rumours and speculation about the state of the deejay's health.
However, Tanesha Johnson better known as 'Shorty' the common-law wife of Vybz Kartel, is dispelling rumours that the artiste suffered a heat stroke and was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
Johnson admitted that Kartel was in fact taken to the hospital and he is done fine.
"He is okay. It was just a regular doctor's visit. His health is perfect," she said.
Following the doctor's visit Kartel was quickly rushed into a waiting mini-van accompanied by a heavily armed security detail.
Head of the Short Boss Muzik imprint, Johnson also oversees the business side of Vybz Kartel's music and other ventures.
The entertainer whose given is Adidja Palmer is currently serving a life sentence following his murder conviction in relation to the death of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in April last year. He will be eligible for parole after 35 years.
Kartel's co-accused, Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell and Kahira Jones, are to serve 25 years before they are eligible for parole, while Andre St John will do 30 years before qualifying for eligibility. The entertainer's defence attorney has, however, filed an appeal.
Despite his incarceration, Kartel's music continues to dominate the airwaves locally.
