Jamaican Member of Parliament for East Rural St. Andrew and State Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, Hon. Damion Crawford will leave the island today to speak at the United Labour Party's Youth Rally in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Crawford was invited by the ruling ULP, to speak at their final youth rally on Saturday ahead of their general elections on December 9.

The ULP, led by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, secured a third  term in 2010 winning 8 of 15 seats. Crawford, known for his forthrightness, dedication to education and issues affecting youth was invited in an effort to mobilize the region's youth and help secure a win for the ULP.

Namely, improving the constituency's literacy average under his 3-2-1 Education Plan; implementing various training programs for hundreds of constituents with the help of HEART Trust/NTA, the multinational company, Diageo and premium catering and bar services company, Bars to Go Group of Companies.

During his four years as Member of Parliament, Crawford also focused on infrastructure and agriculture. Under his tenure, the Kintyre Bridge which serves as a necessary means of transit for the community and adjoining areas was rebuilt; a zinc removal program was carried out and soon thereafter, replicated by other communities and an Agriculture Disaster Risk Management program put into effect in Halls Delight.

Additionally, as State Minister of Tourism, Crawford has toiled to implement the "Jamrock - 90 Days, 90 Ways" summer tourism package; Arts in the Park; Tools of Trade; Entertainment Registry; Noise Abatement Act amendment; Entertainment Zones; a Creative Council and more, to benefit Jamaicans while marketing the country as a prime entertainment/tourism destination.
