Broadcasters Cliff Hughes & Mutabaruka Awarded 'Order Of Distinction' By Jamaican Government


Veteran broadcaster, Clifton ‘Cliff’ Hughes and dub poet Mutabaruka were among a number of Jamaicans bestowed with the honour of the Order of Distinction Commander class by Governor General Patrick Allen at King's House on Monday.

Cliff Hughes started his career at the RJR Communications Group as a sports reporter/producer in 1986. He quickly moved up the ranks to become a leading broadcaster and interviewer and is known for his incisive and thought provoking television programme Impact.

Hughes is one of a select band of journalists to own their own media house and his Nationwide Radio has become one of Jamaica’s leading radio stations in the last 10 years.

Allan ‘Mutabaruka’ Hope is a world renowned dub poet, musician, actor and radio host who has spread his firebrand Rastafarian doctrine at every turn.

Muta, as he is affectionately called, currently hosts the Cutting Edge and The Art of War talk shows on Irie FM radio and is known for his roles in several movies including, Sankofa.
