Prominent Jamaican record label, Cashflow Records has vehemently
denied allegations that they’re directly involved in a recent scam.
Younger artistes have made recent complaints that scammers have been
calling them; claiming to be representatives of the Cashflow label.
However, the well-renowned Dancehall label has vowed to clear their
name; taking to Richie B’s talk show on HOT 102 to explain that persons
have been posing as Cashflow members & promising an exclusive tour
with established Dancehall/Reggae singjay, I-Octane in exchange for
JA$50,000.
Cashflow Records’ publicist, Buju Wayne explained the nature of the
recent scams; saying, "The person a tell lie that his name is DJ Neil,
and that in exchange for JA$50,000 he can arrange a tour with I-Octane.”
However, the scam was revealed when one of its victims called the
real Cashflow Neil to ask about this alleged exchange. "Luckily he had a
number for DJ Neil or else he would have paid the money and Cashflow
would have got a bad name," Wayne intimated before advising, "Get in
contact with DJ Neil or Father P, no other person can conduct business
on behalf of Cashflow.”
Wayne also issued a public apology to victims of the scam & urged
persons who’ve suffered any financial losses as a result of the scam to
report said matters to the police immediately.
One young artiste who was a victim of the scam, Israelyte explained
that he received a text from someone posing to be Cashflow Neil. “A mi
DJ Neil and I want you on I-Octane islandwide tour. We are requesting
new artistes and you should come to Kingston right away,” the text read.
Israelyte was ecstatic as he thought this would be his big
breakthrough. But while he made his way to Kingston with the money, the
scammer told him to stop in Spanish Town & leave the money at an
undisclosed location. That’s when Israelyte called the actual Cashflow
Neil; discovering that he falling prey to the scam setup. "To di young
artiste dem, investigate any call yu get first, because if mi neva have
the real DJ Neil numba, wi cudda dead or serious things happen,"
Isrealyte advised.
