Strong Support for Portmore Dancehall Artiste G-Loc

In recent times Portmore has become one of the main hubs for unearthing some of Jamaica’s most prolific talents. Names like; Mad Cobra, Ninja Kid, Bascom X, I-Wayne, Deva Bratt, Blak Ryno, Popcaan and Vybz Kartel springs to thought among others too numerous to mention.

Now firmly rooted in the dancehall culture, Portmore seems to be throwing some strong support behind another of its sons. This time its emerging deejay G-Loc, a graduate of Meadowbrook High School and resident of Braeton – Phase One.

This savvy dancehall singjay whose given name is Andre Williams despite emerging on the scene in 2010 has already secured a number of accolades including: Best Upcoming Artiste at the 2012 staging of the Portmore Awards along with performances at Bling Dawg Summer Jam, Fullyloaded, Portmore Awards  and the recently concluded Portmore Seafood Festival.

G-Loc intimates that he began to gain mainstream recognition in the latter half of 2011 following the release of his first professional single ‘Go Hard’ in 2010 on the Stone Love Music imprint. The song earned him a buzz in the streets and a noteworthy 13,500+ views via Youtube added to concrete fan-base in the St. Catherine municipal.  Several songs later, he’s preparing to release the official video for another party anthem titled ‘Raving Everyday’ on the Summer In Paris Rhythm courtesy of Ghetto Network.  The video was shot under the guidance and direction of Rolie Brown also credited with the ‘Go Hard’ project.

When quizzed about his formula for success he explained, “It’s just hard work and determination and most importantly good music. Finding that right sound is key”

What’s next for G-Loc?, “Expect good music and great things in the near future along with some great performances. One day I too aspire to become a legend ” - He added, referring to Usain’s recent performance at the London Olympics.
