In the weekend edition of the Jamaica Star dancehall artiste KipRich says he is willing to entertain a lyrical clash if that is what the public desires.
KipRich recently released Talk and that was followed by much discussion, as he mentioned artistes like Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man and Elephant Man. The song also left people wondering if there would be a clash between KipRich and Vybz Kartel.
However, KipRich said he would only entertain a clash at the request of the people.
"Yuh see, if the people dem a ask fi dat, a dat mi a deal wid. From the people want a vibe and the people dem ready, mi will build a clash but a nuh just anybody," he said.
"Wi still a watch dem and see wah a gwaan. I guess by the end of October the people will decide seh dem waan see da bredda ya and da bredda ya square off over Jam World. It's a time and place thing. We couldn't come with dem kinda vibe deh inna summer. That's why mi refer to now as the dark season," he said.
While he does not want to become known as only a clash artiste, KipRich says being in lyrical face-offs have aided his career.
"For me, it was reinvention 'cause when I broke on the scene I was nowhere near that. But in this business you have to keep proving yourself to the people. It shows the people a different side and you get shows from dem ting deh," he said.
KipRich says more tongues will be left wagging after he releases his new song called The Real Saga on the 'Overproof' rhythm.
"It a talk bout Beenie and him wife, Prezzi's guilty plea, selectors being beaten. It's really current and controversial. It just a talk bout some things weh a happen, nutten personal," he said.
While he has nothing personal against the artistes and public figures he sings about in The Real Saga, KipRich's other recent single Cry (JPS) was inspired by people's complaints about the Jamaica Public Service Limited.
"A lot of people crying about this situation where dem getting some ridiculous bills. It kinda unfair; people seh dem even lock off dem things and dem still get the same amount. Me get some big bills too. A really the people dem a cry and me hear dem cry," he said, noting that he hopes to release a music video for the song within a week.
