Jamaican Teen Kills Stepdad With Butcher Knife in New York

Jamaican teenager Nickel McLean is now facing a second degree murder charge in New York for stabbing his stepfather to death.

According to the New York Daily News, McLean stabbed his stepfather at the family’s Richmond Hill home on Sunday afternoon.

McLean reportedly used a butcher knife to stab 50-year-old David Hightower during an argument – allegedly over scrubbing the dinner plates – in their third-floor apartment on 114th Street near Myrtle Avenue just after 3:30 pm.

“I heard a woman screaming for the police. You could hear a fight. There was a lot of banging and yelling,” a neighbour was quoted as saying.

Hightower was rushed to hospital but could not be saved. McLean, who originally hails from Kingston, Jamaica, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
