Dancehall artiste Raytid who shot to prominence earlier this year with the female dance anthem 'Blah Daff' has denied engaging in the current skin bleaching trend. Described by many as 'Vybz Kartel 3.0' seeing Alkaline is already dubbed version 2.0; The 'Dutty Shake' singer has come under heavy criticism from members of the wider entertainment fraternity after he was spotted during a performance donning a very pale complexion complimented by dreadlocks and an abundance of tattoos.
When quizzed he vehemently denied the practice and attributes his lightened complexion to always being inside the air conditioned studio and out of direct sunlight. Raising even further speculations about Raytid's intention is the fact that he recently teamed up with noted Gaza affiliate producer TJ of TJ Records to release a new single titled 'My Day' on the 'Tears Of Joy' rhythm.
Although perceived as the 'rookie' on the rhythm, Raytid's song quickly became one of the favourites both locally and internationally, prior to its official release via iTunes recently.
According to Raytid: "It has been one of my dreams to be on a riddim with Vybz Kartel. To see the responses, it's a joy, trust me!"
A lot of persons heard My Days and did not know it was recorded by him, but Raytid is not surprised at the gravitation of the crowd towards the song. "My Days a something weh everybody can relate to. From you know bout struggle and determined to get a better life, you a go like it," he said.
Raytid said he has worked hard to be where he is right now, and is very thankful. "I won't leave out the girls no time at all, but I have to let my fans see that I can do more than just gyal songs," he said.
The video for My Days was shot in his community of Kingston 13, and is set for release soon.
Raytid is also currently promoting the singles Dutty Shake produced by DJ Blaze Worldwide; Dem Lips produced by Jay Crazie Records and is also featured on Jay Crazie's Fire Nation ZJ Dymond's Tilt Ova and Apt. 19 Music's Gyalla Park rhythm.thm.
