The funeral for dancehall artiste J Capri is set for today, Monday, December 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the University of the West Indies Chapel, Mona, St Andrew.
Monday’s service will feature live performances from singers Chris Martin, Alaine, and Cherine Anderson.
J Capri, whose given name is Jordan Phillips, reportedly lost control of her motor vehicle which hit a wall before overturning on Barbican Road in St Andrew, on November 23.
The 23-year-old suffered severe head trauma and was placed in an induced coma at the University Hospital of the West Indies. She succumbed to her injuries on December 4.
Fans of the late star will also get a chance to experience the funeral by viewing the celebrations live online.Several major media partners have teamed up to provide a free live stream of the "Celebration of Life " funeral for J Capri. The live streams for the event will be available at go-jamaica.com/jcapri.
Speaking with members of the local media her father Kenneth Phillips said, "I had no idea how much she was loved until this happened. To the fans and followers, we thank them and we are appreciative of the outpouring of love the family has received through this ordeal,"
J Capri’s last major performance in Jamaica was on Dancehall Night at Reggae Sumfest in July. She is best known for the songs Reverse It and Wine and Kotch.
Interment will be in the Dovecot Memorial Gardens in St Catherine.
