After stamping his class at Trinidad’s ‘Fullyloaded’ alongside veteran entertainers Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Wayne Wonder earlier this month. 4th Genna Recording artiste Aidonia, over the Memorial Day weekend once again showed why he remains a force to be reckoned with within the space.
Billed as one of the headliners for the annual staging of the much-anticipated ‘Best Of The Best’ concert held at Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida over the weekend. The ‘IG Girls’ deejay making his debut not only delivered the penultimate set but according to a consensus by patrons, arguably the best performance of the night despite a stellar line-up consisting some of the biggest names across the Caribbean diaspora.
Decked in a black, white and gold Versace ensemble the 4th Genna head honcho emerged on stage at approximately 10:30pm and took the over 25,000 patrons on a 30-minutes journey from the infancy of his career to present, showing growth and maturity in the process. Other commendable performances came courtesy of Spice, Josey Wales, Christopher Martin, Jahmiel and Dexta Daps.
Speaking with Miami’s 99 Jamz prior to his performance Aidonia said,
“I always try to do something that is not commonplace in dancehall because I never try to fit in I always prefer to stand out. I always take a different route so my work shows differently.”
He continued, “Everybody knows my thing__ is me say work for the people. Remember the people work hard for their money they spend to come see me perform. So I have to make sure not to just give them 100 but 130 percent instead. When they leave they are satisfied knowing they got more than their money’s worth.”
Meanwhile, Aidonia is schedule to invade Connecticut this Friday for a June 2 assignment. From there the entertainer will turn his attention to the 2017 installment of Reggae Sumfest – Dancehall Night. The Montego Bay based festival is slated for July 16 -22 at Catherine Hall and will mark their 25th anniversary.
