DJ Calico Scorches The FM Airwaves On Suncity Radio

With the continued evolution of Portmore becoming Jamaica's third official city, the sunshine capital has unveiled it's very own radio station with the birth of Suncity Radio located at 104.9 on the FM band.

Despite a soft launch the station has been gaining a lot of traction; thanks in part to its bevy of personalities and disc jocks. Among the cadre of jocks also known as 'Sunjocks' is the very skillful and multi-faceted DJ Calico.

Occupying the Tuesday slot from (10:00am-2:00pm) and Friday (2:00pm-6:00pm); DJ Calico has garnered a steady listenership unraveling his musical artistry on the weekly 'Currant Tuesdays' & 'Tun Up Fridayz'. Two of the station's most popular offerings.

Calico attributes his popularity to his love for the artform and work ethic, because not only is he a radio jock but also a sound engineer and computer technician added to being a member of the very popular Darkcide International sound system with compatriots ZJ Wah Wa and Acid.


The Sunjock whose correct name is 'Chad Hinds' recently released his summer mix cd titled 'HAMMA HEAD' to rave reviews with impressive downloads ranging near 4500+ units. On the party circuit DJ Calico has been responsible for amping up the vibes at some of this Summer biggest events including the recent staging of 'Marco Polo'.  Calico is also the resident DJ at the very succesful 'Hamma Fridaze', set to resume in October.
