Following the withdrawal of sponsorship from Teacha’s Pet by telecommunications outlet, LIME on Tuesday, speculation was rampant that CVM TV would no longer broadcast Kartel’s reality show. A representative from CVM TV said on the same day that Teacha’s Pet would no longer be shown on the network as a result of Kartel’s legal woes.
However, CVM TV’s Programming Director, Ransford Ricketts on Friday confirmed that the network would continue to air episodes of Teacha’s Pet for the foreseeable future. Ricketts explained in a radio interview that CVM TV was assessing the situation closely but never considered suspending or pulling the reality series from its airwaves. Following their assessment, along with strong demand from Kartel’s fan base and fan of Teacha’s Pet, Ricketts intimated that episodes of the reality show would continue to air as contractually obligated.
Teacha’s Pet premiered on CVM TV on September 23rd while LIME TV showed the uncut versions of Kartel’s reality show directly after CVM’s broadcast; at 11:00pm local time. However, CVM was unable to air last week’s episode of Teacha’s Pet due to a problem in the editing process while LIME announced that due to the seriousness of Kartel’s charges, they would no longer air “Too Hot for TV” clips of the show via their mobile TV outlet.
On Monday, Kartel was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder & illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting death of a businessman/promoter in Gregory Park, St Catherine. A preliminary hearing for the case has tentatively been set for October 13th.
