Usain Bolt Recieves His Doctorate, He's Now Dr. Bolt

Top Jamaican sprinter and World record holder Usain Bolt is now a doctor. Bolt was conferred with honorary degree of Doctor of Law by the University of the West Indies Mona Friday afternoon (Nov.4th) during the schools graduation ceremony.

He will now be referred to as Dr. The Honourable Ambassador Usain Bolt.

Meanwhile, Bolt and fellow top Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake are among the three athletes short-listed for the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year; however no Jamaican has made the short list for the women.

Blake, the 100 metres World champion, Bolt, the two time 200 metres World champion and Kenya’s David Rudisha, the 800 metres world champion are the athletes short-listed for the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year award.

Rudisha is the present holder of the award.

Although nominated, Veronica Campbell –Brown, the World 200 metres champion, has not made the women's short-list

New Zealand shot putter Valrie Adams, Kenyan distance runner Vivian Cheruiyot and Australian sprint hurdler Sally Pearson are the short-listed athletes for the Female Athlete of the Year award.

The winners will be announced during the World Athletics Gala in Monaco on November 12.
