Ity & Fancy Cat Apologize To Beenie Man For Skit

Popular comedic duo, Ian “Ity” Ellis and Alton “Fancy Cat” Hardware have apologized for any harm or embarrassment caused following a recent skit they did about the Beenie Man-D’Angel divorce.

The skit was aired on last Sunday's episode of the Ity & Fancy Cat show; depicting a scenario in which Beenie Man’s character visited the home of his estranged wife, D’Angel. This followed a confrontation involving Beenie Man’s and Bounty Killer’s characters; ridiculing the comments Bounty made regarding Beenie and D’Angel’s pending divorce via Twitter.

Once Beenie made it to the house, D’Angel’s character was later joined by a look-a-like of controversial actor, Keith “Shebada” Ramsey who claimed that he was the new father of Beenie’s son, Marco Dean. Marco Dean’s character then made an appearance telling Beenie, “Yuh Luddy,” which is one of Shebada’s signature catch phrases.

Ity & Fancy are now apologizing for any damage or inconvenience they have caused Beenie’s family since the airing of their skit. Ellis said in an interview with the Star, one of Jamaica's local newspapers, “We regret any embarrassment we might have caused him and his family that was not our intention.” Additionally, he intimated that, "What we do first and foremost is comedy, spread jokes and laughter. We've never used our skits to make a serious point, the only thing we do is push laughter. Me make jokes bout anything that's in the public domain.” However, Ity did stress that Beenie and D’Angel aren’t the first public figures to be publicly ridiculed during their shows and won’t be the last.

Ity& Fancy Cat’s apology follows comments Beenie made yesterday about the skit; claiming that it was done in bad taste. "My son is only four years old, him attend school, and dem a try disrespect my family and have Jamaica ah laugh after me and my family. Whatever dem a do, dem need fi just leave Marco Dean outta it,” Beenie said.

The Ity & Fancy Cat show was moved to the 8:30pm time slot in Jamaica this past week and will air in that time slot for the remainder of this season following the conclusion of Digicel Rising Stars 2011.
