American Grammy-winning R&B superstar, Alicia Keys has made Jamaica her temporary home, as she will embark on a recording project in the island.
The songstress, known for several classics such as Fallin, A Woman’s Worth and Superwoman arrived
in the island on Saturday for music-related purposes. According to
media reports, Keys began attending recording sessions at Geejam Studios in Portland.
The studio complex houses three deluxe cabins, a self-contained
villa, spa, gym, swimming pool and restaurant. Additionally, reports
claim that the privacy Geejam studios offer assured Keys safe
accommodation.
It remains unknown the nature of said recordings that Alicia Keys has engaged in, what projects she’ll work on while in the island or how long she’ll stay in the island.
Keys graces Jamaican shores previously; performing on the final night of the 2004 Jazz and Blues Festival to high acclaim.
Two years later, the New York based singer collaborated with internationally acclaimed deejay, Baby Cham for the remix of Cham’s smash hit, Ghetto Story. The single charted well locally and internationally while earning airplay on popular radio outlets such as Hot 97 in New York.
Otherwise, Keys did joint efforts such as the Reggae remix for her chart-topping single, No One with Reggae veteran, Junior Reid and also collaborated with Dancehall singjay, Mavado in 2009.
