Busy Signal Makes His First U.S. Court Appearance

Jamaican dancehall deejay Busy Signal, who fled the United States to avoid a pending drug trial a decade ago, made his first court appearance in the Minnesota case on Wednesday.

Signal, whose real name is Glendale Goshia Gordon, was detained in London by immigration officials who suspected he was traveling on false documents and then arrested last month as he disembarked a plane at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

Busy Signal was arrested in Minneapolis in January 2002, and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He fled to Jamaica before trial.

Gordon waived his right to an extradition hearing. He is due to be formally charged next week

The highly acclaimed singjay, known for several smash hits such as Step Out, These Are They Days, Nah Go Jail Again and One More Night was arrested on an extradition warrant by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team of the Organized Crime Investigation Division.
