New York-based recording artistes Kappa and Shootii are definitely aiming to make their mark this summer with the release of a catchy new dancehall composition titled 'Touch Road'. Released on the Chemist Records/Buzuwa Records imprint, the single is already enjoying favourable rotation on the U.S East Coast and continues to make in-rows throughout the Caribbean diaspora with a heavy focus on Jamaica, considering it's the mecca of the dancehall genre.
As part of the ongoing promotional campaign, the two have also shot and released an official video via their respective Vevo channels. Reminiscent of that colourful summer party vibe with all the trappings of a celebrity lifestyle, Kappa and Shootii give fans a glimpse into their world. The visual was directed by burgeoning New York film outfit Troublesum.
"Dancehall is no longer confined to Jamaica and is now a global genre, so as artiste based in New York we wanted to represent for the culture and give fans an opportunity to see the music from our perspective." - Shootii exclaimed.
"The dancehall scene in New York is very active and we are thankful for the level of support the song and our careers have been receiving but it's equally important that we connect with our roots seeing we do get a lot of support from fans in Jamaica and hence the reason for the push into the local market" - Kappa added.
Born in New York City, Kappa has been steadily honing his craft throughout the years and recently opened a major concert for International dancehall star Kranium, a feat he considers a career milestone. Meanwhile, Clarendon native Shootii who migrated to New York has worked with several noted names including Beenie Man and Frisco Kid, both of whom he once understudied.
