Vybz Kartel's Common-Law Wife Speaks About His Arrest

The common-law wife of incarcerated dancehall star Vybz Kartel has spoken in-depth regarding the recent legal woes that have plagued the internationally acclaimed deejay.

In a television interview Kartel’s long-time girlfriend, Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson intimated that she believes the police deliberately tried to humiliate him and their family. The mother of three of Kartel’s children, “Shorty,” shared her thoughts regarding the day when the 'Worl Boss' was carried across several properties by police as part of their murder investigation.

“Dem have him all over di place fi di whole day a drive up and dung like him a one a Jamaica’s Most Wanted man dem so dem have him all over di place; yellow tape, excitement a di house an all a dem sumt'n deh,” Johnson said.

However, Johnson said that the public circus surrounding Kartel’s arrest upset their family, particularly, their children. “Him kids dem, dem traumatize bad,” she said before explaining that their oldest son, Adidja Palmer Jr. was crying and running around uncontrollably while witnessing the events. Their younger son, Akil also suffered emotional issues as a result of the charges while Kartel’s Mom, Shorty revealed, has had her blood pressure checked several times given the shock the news of Kartel’s murder charges had on her.

Johnson stated that Kartel’s legal problems have been hard for her and her children to bear; causing the family to seek counseling to cope with the problems stemming from this incident. She’s urged for the police to release the self-professed “Dancehall Hero” as soon as possible for their sake.

Meanwhile, Shorty said that she is keeping strong despite the hardships her family is going through. “Mi tink mi can manage it cause yuh haffi strong enuh. Every man fi have a strong woman and I’m the strong one.”
