A father was gunned down in front of his children shortly after he arrived to drop them off at the St Mary's Preparatory and Kindergarten School yesterday morning in Montpelier, St James.
Investigators have since launched a probe in a bid to bring the perpetrators to justice. The dead man has been identified as 28-year-old Sheldon Dennis.
School was dismissed early yesterday as teachers and students, including his own, witnessed the gruesome attack.
According to police reports, Dennis was dropping off his two children when gunmen attacked him.
Eyewitnesses say Dennis ran from the vehicle and was chased by the gunmen, who shot him repeatedly.
it's understood that parents who were on hand quickly located their children and took them home. It is uncertain if the police have established a motive for the attack.
The St. James police say their investigation is ongoing.
