Emerging Jamaican born Reggae artiste Shane Manning more popularly known as Sammy British says he’s ready to make his stamp on the Jamaican Music scene. The artiste who left the island to complete studies in the U.S. says he got started in the music at very young age.
In his own words, due to the abundance of Jamaican creativity around and the prevalence of reggae during his adolescence, he was always fascinated with the creation of art and felt it was necessary to pour out his expression through this medium. Being a participant in the JCDC Festival of the Performing Arts in his years as a student at The Glenmuir High School the artiste fell in loved with performing and expression through music. The artiste intimated that it wasn't anything new to him as felt natural, just like breathing and walking.
Now doing what he loves the artiste describes his music as a representation of himself, someone who is free spirited and unique. According to the artiste he loves what reggae represents,
“Rebellion in its purest form; against oppression, inequality, injustice, war and yet it so beautiful and relaxing, when you allow the melodies to take control. My style is hybrid using reggae as the base, new and transformative”.
Currently with 8:o’Scics entertainment Group based in New Jersey, the artiste feels it is very important for him to do reggae music as according to him ”it inna mi like blood inna mi veins” and hopes the rest of Jamaica will realize the value of Reggae music before other countries reap the benefits.
Now Out with his new single and video “Free Me” which has been receiving heavy rotation on RJR’s RETV in Jamaica and several online websites, the artiste is ready to make his stamp on the Jamaican music industry. According to Sammy, “he really poured out his heart for the people in this song, especially the suffering children in the world, but everyone can relate.”
The artiste also recently released the single “Fallen Soldiers” which is a personal dedication to all the brave ones who have put their lives on the line at some point in our history for something greater than themselves. Both singles are available for purchase on Itunes, Amazonmp3.com, and many other online music retailers. For the rest of the year the artistes says Jamaica and the rest of the world can look forward debut album scheduled for release this year and many more singles.
