Mavado Assault Trial Postponed Until April

A shortage of court rooms at the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates Court building forced the postponement of the continuation of the trial of dancehall artiste Mavado earlier Tuesday morning.

The trial of Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, started last week and was schedule to continue today but with all the court rooms being used due to the start of circuit, the case was postponed April 23.

Mavado, who is being represented by attorneys at law Martyn Thomas and Christian Tavares-Finson, is facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault arising from an incident in rural St James in July last year.

Mavado was arrested and charged on July 22, last year following allegations that he and members of his entourage assaulted a man and his son, damaging their motor vehicle in the process.
