"Kartel Can't Stop Me From Say Gaza" - Says Popcaan

Former Portmore Empire deejay, Popcaan vows that he steadfastly remains a ‘Gaza’ artiste despite recent claims from his former mentor that he’s abandoned the cause.

Over a week ago, ex-Empire leader, Vybz Kartel issued a statement questioning the loyalty of his most decorated protégés, Popcaan and Tommy Lee, branding them as opportunists and fakes who’ve been exploiting his ‘Gaza’ movement while also hinting at deteriorating business relationships with both entertainers. Following the statement’s release, fellow Ex-Empire deejay, Lisa Hyper called out Kartel regarding his claims of betrayal while Tommy Lee appeared on TVJ’s Entertainment Report, insisting he couldn’t explain why the self-proclaimed ‘Worl’ Boss’ would lash out against him.

Now Popcaan has thrown his hat into the ring by intimating that despite Kartel’s sentiments, he remains a ‘Gaza’ loyalist, regardless of whoever opposes his stance. During a performance at a back-to-school event in Portmore, Popcaan proclaimed ‘Gaza Fi Life’ before expressing that Kartel can’t stop him from saying ‘Gaza.’

Nevertheless, Popcaan did take time to shout out ‘Di Teacha’ during his performance, paying homage to his long-time mentor who recruited him to the Portmore Empire as a teenager in 2008.

"Big up to Kartel who played a major role in what Popcaan has become as an artiste today," he said.

Meanwhile, a new song emerged over the weekend from Kartel and the aforementioned Tommy Lee entitled, Betray Di Gaza Boss, sparking more speculation that Popcaan and the ‘Worl Boss’ are at odds. The single, which was premiered by ZJ Chrome on Friday, features a number of lines that some music lovers believe are taking subliminal shots at Popcaan.
