Aidonia Saddened by His Grandmother's Death

Kicking off the New Year on a high note with a pair of scintillating performances at the Club Red Hills Ballroom in Atlanta, Georgia and Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, Dancehall superstar Aidonia’s gleeful days have been overshadowed by gloom following the untimely passing of his grandmother late last week.

Aidonia’s grandmother, Ms. Hortense Johnson more affectionately known as ‘Mama Dell’ passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, January 18th at approximately 7:33am, the entertainer was off the island at the time and is deeply saddened by her sudden passing.

Aidonia and his brother Lav, shared a close bond with their grandmother who was 83 years old at the time of her death at her home in Dallas Castle, St. Andrew. 

Following the revelation Lav took to his Instagram account (@lalojop) to share his grief, he wrote, 

“Getting a call this morning at 7:33am I wud not expect 2 hear that my 1 and only grandma was gone. I always pray that I wud leave earth b4 she passed bcuz I cud not image life without her. S.I.P. #MAMADELL as u left us peacefully while asleep and I know u r truly in a better place.”

A seemingly grief stricken Aidonia was unable to speak at the time but the family has asked members of the media, entertainment fraternity and the wider public to respect his privacy and that of the family as they grieve the loss of their beloved grandmother.
