Dancehall artiste Beenie Man says that he plans are underway to relaunch his foundation. According to the entertainer, the Beenie Man Foundation (BMF) was established decades ago but was placed on the back burner for a while.
"Mi did launch it already through Shocking Vibes but too much man did wa nuff up in it. But everything iron out now and the plans are in place as to how it will operate and generate funds for charity," he said.
Beenie Man said that the foundation will be aimed at the youths and persons affected by sickle cell, which is the most common genetic disorder in Jamaica. Beenie Man, as well as his son, Moses Jr, suffers from the effects of the sickle-cell trait.
"It is a dangerous ting that can kill, and that's why me aim to raise awareness about it through the foundation. It is a disease that should not be taken lightly. If rain all fall di whole a yuh body swell up. The pain that it give anno pain whey yuh can go get Cataflam fi it. More time yuh have to go hospital to get an injection fi it," he said.
"Nuff time, Moses just freeze up ina him bed when the pain reach him. Him a 19 now so me just a hope him grow it out and get stronger," he added.
Beenie Man said that although he does not allow the disease to affect his career there have been times when he is struck with pain while onstage.
"Sometimes when the fans dem start see me move pon one foot a it enuh, a nuh dance me a dance but me nah make it stop me nuh time," he added.
