Badda Bling The New Man in Charge at 'Di Unit' Sound System

After being guided for several years by noted entertainment practitioner Davey Scott, popular Portmore based sound system 'Di Unit' now has a new skipper at the helm. The change comes in the wake of a recent development with Scott which has led to the mantle being passed on to Matthew Mothersill better known by his stage moniker 'Badda Bling'.

'Bling', a senior jock on the sound system will not relinquish his current position but instead will annex the duties of management to his current portfolio which also includes 'Naturally D Bes', a weekly radio programme aired Monday to Fridays (10 am - 2 pm) on BESS 100FM. In a statement to the media, he explains that he's not worried about the additional responsibilities as he is accustomed to being multifaceted within the group.

"Taking on the roles of manager and DJ for the sound added to having a radio show is no easy feat, but I am up for the challenge. Coupled with the fact that everyone in the team understands what we are aiming to achieve hence, we always strive to work as a cohesive unit to achieve said goals. However, we want promoters and other business interest to know how they can reach us seeing our information has changed. For bookings, they can contact  1(876)438-2121 or email: diunitmuzik@gmail.com Social Media: @diunitmuzik @baddablingja @likkle_rich"

Though still in its formative years the five-man sound system boasts an impressive array of accolades including several awards, being featured on all the top tier social events locally (Dream Weekend, BritJam, Reggae Sumfest etc.) and numerous international appearances including an African debut last year with Demarco.

With a full roster of activities for the Easter/Summer holidays, 'Badda Bling' says fans can catch them in action over the festive season at Pull Up (March 24), Bikini Sunday (March 25), Badda Tuesday (starts March 27- weekly event) Portland Cottage (March 30), Hectors River Portland (March 31), Noisy River Oxford Manchester (April 1), Easter Cook-Out (April 2), Mohco Clarendon (April 6) and Bikini Rave Soca vs Dancehall Ochi Rios (April 7); before jetting off to Costa Rica on May 1. They've also been confirmed for this summer's Reggae Sumfest and Dream Weekend.

The current members of the sound system are Akeel 'Likkle Rich' Harris, Jerome 'Dj Jerome' Shaw, Ayele 'Niney' Martin, Matthew 'Badda Bling' Mothersill, Davey Scott.
