Gaza Slim Could Be Charged For Lying To Police

The Portmore Empire’s legal woes could mount once again as one of the group’s singjays, Gaza Slim, could stand accused of lying to police in one of Vybz Kartel’s murder cases.

Gaza Slim, whose given name is Vanessa Saddler, was named a person of interest by law enforcement officials on Thursday. She was asked to report to the Constant Spring Police by midday Friday for questioning following weeks on unsuccessful attempts to contact the singjay. It remains unknown if she has complied with their request.

Reportedly, Gaza Slim issued a report to police this past October, claiming that she was robbed and gun-butted by Clive “Lizard” Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew. Williams, a former dancer from Waterford, St. Catherine is one of the men Vybz Kartel stands accused of killing. The report was filed on October 29, five days after Kartel was charged for murder in the case.

On Friday, several reports emerged that police possess phone records indicating that Kartel and Gaza Slim tried to stage a false robbery in an attempt to aid the defense case for the self-proclaimed, “Worl’ Boss.”  As a result, Gaza Slim could face charges of attempting to pervert the court of justice as well as conspiracy to pervert the course of justice for making false statements to law enforcement officials.

Upon hearing of the news, one of Kartel’s defense lawyers, Christian Tavares-Finson insisted that the robbery was in no way an attempt to aid his client’s case; dismissing it as a rumor.

Vybz Kartel, along with fellow Portmore Empire artiste, Shawn Storm, his road manager, Calvin “Moonie” Haye and Kiro Jones were all jointly charged in the murder of Williams over recent weeks. Police insisted shortly after their joint hearing last month that they had video and phone evidence implicating the accused in the murder. Williams was stabbed and beaten to death this past August. His body has not been found.
